I checked a few pages and I got 404 errors that are not real. Here is an example:

http://mysite.com/export/north\d2_05.jpg
Error 404 : no document
Anchor text: none (2 occurences)

When I click on the link, I see the image in my browser. No 404.

 

Also misspelling, "occurence" should be "occurrence".

Hi Andy,

This is not a false positive. Did you notice that your URL contains a backslash ? Not all browsers will treat the backslash in the same way.

It is true that Internet Explorer will automatically replace \ by / and your browser will show the content of http://mysite.com/export/north/d2_05.jpg. So you get the image on the screen without error.

Other browsers, like Firefox or Opera, will just process the URL as it is and the image will not be found.

I would say that, although IE is trying to help the user here, it is misleading you by correcting and hiding the error.
