The 3xx class of status code contains three kinds of "temporary redirections".

The 302, 303 and 307 redirects are identical for GET and HEAD requests. POST requests are treated differently:

  • 303 : redirects a POST request to a GET request. The query string in the GET request can be used to specify the variables that were included in the POST request.
  • 307 : redirects a POST request to another POST request.
  • 302 : was originally supposed to act as a 307, but is often implemented as a 303.

Our recommendations for temporary redirects:

  • GET or HEAD : use 302
  • POST redirected to GET : use 303
  • POST redirected to POST : use 307

200ok.eu robots follow all these kinds of temporary redirects.
